- Through the collaboration with China's Datang Telecom, Taiwanese MediaTek landed a contract from China Mobile and thus gained 60% market share of all chips used in China's TD-SCDMA devices, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported. The company's annual production capacity for full-year 2008 is estimated to reach between 200 and 250 million units, with a projected annual growth rate of at least 30%, according to the same source.

- According to Xinhua News, China Mobile announced on April 28 that the company will carry out its determination to deliver 3G telecommunications service based on China's homegrown TD-SCDMA technology during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. In addition, over 15,000 TD-SCDMA mobile phones manufactured by Samsung, along with data cards and nearly three million RMB (US$429,061; US$1 = 7.0 RMB) of donated calling fees, have been delivered ahead of schedule to the Beijing Olympic Committee.

- Anritsu, US subsidiary of Anritsu Corporation in Japan, recently announced the availability of the first complete TD-SCDMA mobile phone test solution - incorporating Anritsu's BTS Master and Spectrum Master Families - with three newly-released options, EE Times reported. It is reported that these options are capable of speeding up measurements for TD-SCDMA signals, including RF (Radio Frequency), demodulation, and OTA (Over-the-Air) measurements, as well as improving measurement accuracy.
